Backing & Batting
BACKING
If
you provide your own backing, the backing should measure at least 4
inches wider than each side of your quilt top and 8 inches longer at
each end of the top and bottom of your quilt. If your quilt top
measures 60 x 80, then your backing should measure at least 68 x 96
AFTER being properly SQUARED UP. Please make sure if piecing the
backing that you remove all selvages before piecing. It will also
help if your piecing lines run horizontal. If you would like to
purchase a one piece backing, I carry several quilt backing fabrics.
Prices begin at $14.00 per yard. An average quilt will use 3 yards
or less.
BATTING
If
you prefer to furnish your own batting, the batting should be
prepared following the guidelines for the backing above. Your
batting should measure at least 4 inches wider than the sides of your
quilt and 8 inches longer at each end of the top and bottom.
